Melanie O'Leary

Running this race is deeply personal to me. Both of my children were born at our local hospital, my most recent being my son who was born there this past july. I had to have two C-sections and, each time, was surrounded by incredible nurses, doctors, and staff who provided not only expert medical care but genuine compassion and support during some of the most vulnerable and life-changing moments of my life.

Women and newborn health matters to me because I’ve lived it — I’ve felt the reassurance of skilled hands, the comfort of kind words, and the safety of knowing my babies and I were in the best possible care. Every dollar raised in this race goes directly back to the hospital that cared for us, helping ensure other mothers and babies receive the same exceptional support. Supporting this cause is my way of giving back to the place that helped bring my greatest joys in life into the world.
