Jesse, Oliver, and I are participating in the Almonte General Hospital's (AGH) 5km walk fundraiser for women and newborn health on June 7th. The fundraiser supports equipment purchases for the AGH Obstetrics Unit.

As you know, the Almonte General Hospital is special in our family. When Dad was transferred to the Rosamond wing last summer, he thrived under their care and that started the best few months he had in years. And last September our little Oliver arrived in the world at the Obstetrics Unit. Fundraisers like this help pay for the equipment that Dad, Oliver, and I all used during our stays.

Fun fact: In a recent Abacus Poll in Ontario, 73% of the population admitted they did not know how hospitals are funded - including the fact that the provincial government does not pay for the clinical equipment used by physicians and staff. As a result, AGH rely on community support to contribute the necessary funds.
